Dr. Hana's BlogPesky Nasal PolypsDecember 14th, 2008Polyps are reactive tissue growths which often result from chronic exposure to irritation such as pollution, GERD, allergens or infections. Nasal washing may reduce the size of polyps, over time. Once polyps form, washing will not cure them but a hypertonic buffered daily wash can prevent further growth. nfortunately, many folks will require surgery or steroids. Many have shared their personal experiences regarding polyps with me and the majority report improvement over time, some even avoided the recommended surgery. Many Ears, Nose, Throat surgeons will suggest aggressive washing as a first step, prior to surgery. I suggest using the simplest path first, nasal washing twice per day for at least one month. If successful, no harm was done. If not improved, then at least you know you tried a safe and non invasive option first. You can read an overview of this condition here http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/988341266.html. Posted in Questions and Answers | New Neti Design ApprovedDecember 14th, 2008I love the design of the bottle. Using it is so much better than the neti pot or the attachment that fits my water-pik or just sniffing water up my nose! I do like the clean feeling that I have afterwards. I use it in the shower which is best.
