Avoiding H1N1

December 13th, 2009

Dear Dr. Hana, This letter is to attest to the fact that I have not had a single cold for the past three years since I have used this wonderful system of nasal and sinus cleansing. When a friend of mine was severely ill and hospitalized, her physician told her that her ailments could have been prevented if she had been regularly using a nasal douche.  In other words, the infection would likely not have gone to her lungs.  Her story impressed me and I began looking for a nasal douching system on the Internet.  I found your site and started regularly irrigating my nasal system.  At that time I was a special education teacher in California and I had a lot of contact with runny-nosed children.  Then I relocated to Reno, Nevada where I worked as a volunteer chaplain at a hospital for a year.  I used the Nasopure system every day when I came home from my work at the hospital, along with lots of hand washing as a prophylactic.  Now, at sixty-nine, I am still again working with children and have had verified cases H1N1 in our school.  In all this time, I have not had a cold.  If I think I am coming down with something I immediately (and often) use this system rather than cold medicines.  Any symptoms quickly go away.    In short, I am a believer in using this system of prevention as much as I believe in brushing my teeth regularly, washing hands and taking showers.  It is a hygiene practice that can prevent illness and it offers me nothing to lose and everything to gain.  So, why not do it. Happy Holidays! JoAnn Baird, Ed. D.

Bloody Nose - Side Effects Of Chemo

December 11th, 2009

Hi Hana -

I’m on an anti-angiogenic agent called Avastin which decreases the formation of new capillaries around tumors.  Nose bleeds and congestion are fairly common side effects.  The bleeding is a slow oozing, which scabs up and blocks my breathing.  Nasopure has been wonderful for dealing with this.  I saw an ENT last week and he told me to smear Bactroban around inside the nares and continue with rinsing.

So here’s my experience:  I’ve been using Nasopure off and on for awhile, but ended up buying another system (with the squirt bottle, not the neti pot).  It happened in a moment of weakness because I couldn’t find my Nasopure stuff and I thought I was gonna die if I didn’t get something to rinse my nose with immediately.  The system advocates "high flow under low pressure" and makes a hard  plastic bottle .with a really big nozzle that squirts from the bottom.  They also tell you to lean over and put your head down while rinsing.  The result of all this is there is no control over the pressure or amount of saline entering the nose.  It felt like the saline was squirting into my sinuses and staying there - the pressure was very uncomfortable and the drainage continued  for a couple of hours after rinsing.  I know the sinuses are not made to have stuff squirting into them - that’s why surfers have such a hard time with their nose and sinuses after a while - so I couldn’t figure out what the other system was getting at.  The worse part was that it didn’t clear my nose very well.  They recommend sniffing the drainage into the nasopharynx and spitting, which I could have done without.

The happy ending to this story is that I found my Nasopure, which I’m now using twice a day.  The trick to total rinsing comfort is to keep the head up and use the soft squirt bottle to control the amount of flow and pressure.  The crook you have at the top of your bottle allows me to tip the bottle up instead of lowering my head.  I find that if I can look at myself in the bathroom mirror while rinsing, I have the right position.  I’m also a fan of the little nozzle which fits nicely into my dainty nose.  The saline solution is very soothing, and the hypertonic saline works quite well to break up the blood clots.

Using Nasopure to treat a side effect of chemo may seem a little esoteric, but Avastin is used alot for metastatic breast cancer and colon cancer.  Maybe oncologists need to know about Nasopure!   Thanks - Laura Viramontes, MD

Nasopure Not Your Average Nose Wash

December 11th, 2009

Hi Dr. Hana, Last year at the holidays I was really suffering! Having moved to the Washington DC area in 2006, I have suffered from frequent sinus infections for the better part two solid years. About every other month I was popping Sudafed, Ibuprofen, and heading to the doctor for an antibiotic. Last year’s holidays were the worst! I had a cold at Thanksgiving and barely got back on my feet before coming down with another upper respiratory infection at Christmas, which developed into Bronchitis. Then in January, another one, which developed into a really awful sinus infection. Ugh! You wouldn’t believe how frustrated and desperate I was to find something that would keep me out of the sick bed! My boss had recommended nasal washing before, but I had resisted because I had tried SINUS washing with terrible results. After each time I did an over-the-counter sinus wash, I wound up with a high fever and in bed for a couple of days. But then he explained that nasal washing was different and sent me the link to Nasopure. I ordered right away and got my first pack when my congestion had reached its peak in January. I had just come back from the doctor with ANOTHER antibiotic when I found the Nasopure box on my doorstep. I tried it immediately, and for what felt like the first time in months, I could breathe clearly within a day. Since January of this year, I haven’t had a single sinus infection or even mild congestion. I’m probably not the best Nasopurist — I generally wash a few times a week, a bit more during allergy season, and every day when I feel something coming on — but the mere fact that I haven’t had to take a decongestant, or an antibiotic, or even a sick day off work in 11 months is something to get excited about!!! I’m hooked for life! And to be honest, since the outbreak of the Swine Flu and being deep into what seems to be a long and painful flu season, I’m washing every day now! I’m also a singer, and as you well know, singers rely on good breathing and clear passages to get a good sound. I find that a warm nasal wash before singing really helps keep my nasal passages clear and moist, which keeps my voice clear and resonating as it should and my breath support strong because, well, I can acutally breathe! For the first time in years, I haven’t had to bail out of choir in the Spring blooming season or in the Fall ragweed season because alleries. I highly recommend NasoPure for those who use their voices. Nasopure is not only insurance for not getting sick, it’s insurance to sound as good as you possibly can! I’m getting ready to place my next order and am determined to get the rest of my family and my church choir washing as well. Thanks so much for your wonderful product. It has truly changed my life… Finally, I’m not the sick girl anymore. :-) Angel

Winter Nose Bleeds and Headaches Gone

December 11th, 2009

Your system has been incredible.  Before my wife found it for me, I was on a spray decongestant prescription and also carried pills in my pocket just in case.  I had constant headaches and my nose would bleed frequently during the winter.  Colds and flu would come and never leave.  All that is gone.  Thanks a million. Thanks, Robert
