Dr. Hana's BlogFrom A Real Nose Expert, Dr Faust!May 31st, 2010Thanks to Dr. Hana for helping put a check mark next to one of my big to-do’s. It isn’t often that one of the BIG items on my long (way too long) to-do list gets a check-mark. It is a remarkable thing when someone else takes care of the check-mark, with no effort on my part. In this case, the BIG item is writing a book on taking care of your personal filter, your nose. Sure, there are MANY (too many?) books on sinusitis, some of the best I endorse and have listed on my Amazon Store site (right column on this blog). It’s just that none of them really represent a care manual for how to take care of your nose and sinuses, at least not in the way that I planned to write my book. It has been on my to-do list for at least 3 years and well, thanks to Dr. Hana I won’t need to worry about it any longer. Of course, Dr. Hana Solomon has done a much better job than I would have. The title of the book is Clearing the Air One Nose at a Time: Caring for Your Personal Filter. Based on her training, experience, and expertise, she has devised her own saline nasal rinse system, Nasopure (disclaimer: I have NO financial or other arrangements with Nasopure). I strongly recommend her Nasopure web site, if only for the educational value. She has THE BEST videos of adults AND CHILDREN doing saline nasal rinses on her site!! Check it out. After chatting briefly with Dr. Hana (as her patients refer to her), I learned that she is a Pediatrician who trained with one of the great pediatric boogor doctors, Dr. David Parsons. He has been a proponent of nasal saline rinses for decades, and believe as I do, that if all of our rhinitis and sinusitis patients were doing daily saline rinses we might be out of a job. So, thanks to Dr. Hana for helping to whittle-down my to-do list. Anyone else out there want to take a crack at completing the list for me? I’d really appreciate it …Thanks,Russell A.
